Review By Darren McIntyre
The Georgia Thunderbolts are a 5 piece rock n roll juggernaut from Rome, Georgia who originally formed in 2015 when classmates Couzzourt & Perry formed and then brought in Everett. Building their sound and getting themselves out there they delivered their self-titled EP to us in 2020. This gave them the opportunity to open for the likes of Black Stone Cherry, The Kentucky Headhunters & Blackberry Smoke, the boys followed up their EP release with their debut album Can We Get A Witness in 2021 and today they are back with their new single which is a solid slab of blues rock with a twist in the form of Gonna Shine, this is a teaser from their upcoming album due next year, please sit back as I take us on this rollercoaster ride with these boys from Rome, Georgia.
Gonna Shine – The track begins with waves crashing in from the ocean as the gritty rasping guitar licks come at us and let this foot-stomping monster deliver itself. The vocals ooze towards us as the rhythm section hits us with a real punchy snare drum beat that welcomes bass kicks and cool cymbal crashes that really let this track shine, we get a funky deep bassline that wraps itself around this groove-laden beast as the killer keys make themselves known to us as we stamp our feet to this rasping arrangement that is building and building as the boys hit the ground running with a real funk laden rock n roll effort that is wrapped in gravelly vocals that just take this track up a notch or two. The boys are really coming into their own with a shredding, crisp guitar riff that is surrounded by a punchy rhythm section that leads from the back of the room.
