Review By Darren McIntyre
Heavenly Cream is An Acoustic Tribute To Cream that has been brought to life by Quarto Valley Records who got together with Messrs Baker, Brown, and a whole host of musicians who knew or were inspired by the iconic supergroup. The project is a 15-track tribute featuring a who’s who of the music world that wanted to leave their mark on this concept album, a real mix of their iconic hits. The first single from the album is Sunshine Of Your Love and brings together the likes of Joe Bonamassa, Bernie Marsden, Neil Murray, Malcolm Bruce, Abass Dodoo & Ginger Baker, please sit back as I walk us through this spine-tingling tribute to the iconic supergroup.
Sunshine Of Your Love – From the outset we get the heavy pounding bass drum kicks that merge with a solid snare drum beat that lets this iconic number come at us. The soulful bluesy vocals of Mr Bonamassa allow the track to come to life as the rhythm section really delivers the killer groove, the funky piano notes are really elevating the track to another level and giving it a real special twist. The acoustic strumming chords really let this arrangement work well as Mr Marsden delivers a faultless masterclass in acoustic licks that is wrapped in the pounding rhythms of Mr Baker as the guys dig deep and really make this track their own, the iconic riff is building and building and this allows the groove to deliver a foot-stomping beat that is instantly recognisable. Joe is a real leader in this track and is backed by a stellar cast of the finest musicians around today, the bassline is deep, and melodic and really wraps itself around this classic track.
