Review By Darren McIntyre
Millie Manders & The Shut Up are a cross-genre punk band from London, with their dynamic sound & candid lyrics the band explores themes like loss, betrayal, anxiety, heartbreak, environmental concerns & political unrest. Their live performances have graced the stages of notable festivals like Slam Dunk, Bearded Theory, North West Calling, Rebellion, Kendal Calling & Boomtown, they have supported acts such as Less Than Jake & Ferocious Dog. The band drop their new single Shut Your Mouth which I will be reviewing for you today.
Shut Your Mouth – Sampler tone streams from the intro as the rasping gritty guitar riffs kick in the doors and let this awesome track unfold. We get almost spoken lyrical vocals that let the track bring us a pounding rhythm section that hits us with a real solid snare drum beat followed heavily by killer bass kicks that let the cymbal crashes rain down on us. We have epic funk-based basslines dropping a cool tone all through this punchy punk-esque piece that delivers a real meaty beat, we get cool sampler tones all through the track as the groove is steeped in a soulful vocal onslaught that brings this foot-stomping track to our attention as it builds and builds with real ease that has you reaching for the repeat button.
