Review By Darren McIntyre
Robert Alan Krieger aka Robby Krieger is a Hall of Famer and founding member of the rock band The Doors, Robby has been active since 1964 and has been a successful musician who has worked with many many bands and artists over the years. Robby after his time in The Doors started projects The Butts Band & Robby Krieger & Friends. Today Robby brings us his latest project in the form of Robby Krieger & The Soul Savages who are set to release their epic new instrumental track A Day In L.A. which I will be reviewing for you today.
A Day In L.A. – If you close your eyes and just imagine walking into a jazz/blues club somewhere in LA this is what would greet you from the get-go. We have a real deep blues funk bassline that controls the tempo as we welcome solid snare drum beats that bring bass kicks and cymbal snaps that get the funkadelic beat off the ground, the addition of sweet soulful keys tells us we are in the company of music royalty as the boys hit us with Hugghy Bear style keys that stop us dead in our tracks as this delicious groove laden monster works it’s magic as the whole ensemble delivers on every level. The slick clean guitar licks are sweet like sugar and full on as this foot-tapping blues juggernaut kicks in and transports you to the club and we feel the boys taking us somewhere new with this genre-bending funk groove that just helps us lose ourselves with incredible tempo’s that have us tapping the table to the classic funk notes that are pouring from this incredible arrangement.
