Venue: O2 Academy Islington, London
In what can only be described as an explosive debut headline show in London, Smash Into Pieces brought their unique blend of energy and musical prowess to the O2 Academy Islington. The Swedish rockers made sure the night was an unforgettable one, even if their lead singer, Hedman Sörbye, didn’t move around much on stage.

While Sörbye’s presence was somewhat reserved, the same couldn’t be said for guitarists Benjamin Jennebo and Per Bergquist’s stand-in, Emanuel Magnil. Both Jennebo and Magnil spent the majority of the performance engaging with fans at the front of the stage, exuding a massive stage presence that elevated the entire concert experience. Magnil even ventured into the crowd, fist-pumping and further connecting with the enthusiastic audience
Adding to the lively atmosphere, APOC, the band’s ‘masked’ drummer, took the initiative to throw merchandise into the crowd, creating a sense of excitement among the fans. The sold-out venue buzzed with energy, prompting thoughts that Smash Into Pieces might need a larger venue for their next London appearance. The gig marked a significant moment for the band as it was their first headline show in London, and the enthusiasm of the crowd suggested that it wouldn’t be their last. The setlist was a rollercoaster of emotions, with hits like “Wake Up,” “Glow in the Dark,” and “Let Me Be Your Superhero” showcasing the band’s versatility and ability to captivate their audience

One highlight of the night was when Susanna Aleksandra, lead singer of the support band Cyan Kicks, joined Smash Into Pieces on stage to perform “Boomerang,” adding an extra layer of excitement to an already electrifying performance.
The encore brought the night to a triumphant close with “Boomerang” and “Six Feet Under,” leaving the audience yearning for more. Smash Into Pieces proved that they are not only masters of their craft but also skilled entertainers capable of creating an unforgettable concert experience.
In conclusion, Smash Into Pieces’ gig at O2 Academy Islington was a wild ride filled with energy, audience interaction, and a diverse setlist that showcased the band’s musical prowess. With Emanuel Magnil stepping in seamlessly for Per Bergquist, the band delivered a performance that left a lasting impression on their London fans. Keep an eye on Smash Into Pieces – their explosive live shows are not to be missed.
