Scouting For Girls concluded their tour with a bang at The Roundhouse in London, delivering a vibrant and nostalgic performance that left the audience on a high. The Roundhouse, with its unique and intimate setting, proved to be the perfect venue for a night of energetic pop-rock tunes.
The evening kicked off with an electrifying performance of “The Missing Part,” setting the tone for a night of hits and surprises. The crowd was immediately captivated by the infectious energy of the band, and the atmosphere was nothing short of electric.
“This Ain’t a Love Song” and “Famous” followed, with the audience singing along to every word. The band’s ability to connect with the crowd was evident from the start, creating a sense of camaraderie that carried through the entire night.
“Love How It Hurts” and “The Place We Used to Meet” showcased the band’s versatility, seamlessly blending heartfelt lyrics with catchy melodies. The crowd’s emotional engagement reached its peak during “I Wish I Was James Bond,” a fan favourite that had everyone reminiscing about their secret agent fantasies.
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the acoustic set, performed under the moniker “Powercut” – a nostalgic nod to the band’s early days. As the intimate setting allowed for a more personal connection with the audience, the band treated fans to a trip down memory lane. Roy, the frontman, shared anecdotes about the band’s beginnings, with a particularly touching moment as he spoke about the album cover, which features his house – the birthplace of Scouting For Girls.
The acoustic set included soulful renditions of “I’m Not Over You,” “It’s Not About You,” “The Luckiest Boy in the World,” and “1+1.” The stripped-down arrangements allowed the audience to appreciate the raw talent and musicality of the band, creating an intimate and memorable experience. Roy even during the performance of 1+1 made his way to the balcony to interact with the fans and sing part of the song up there.
The concert then picked up the pace with the return of the full band, delivering hits like “Posh Girls,” “Heartbeat,” and “Song I Can’t Forget.” The medley of “Elvis Ain’t Dead” and “Can’t Help Falling in Love” was a clever and entertaining twist, showcasing the band’s playful side and getting the crowd singing.
As the night reached its crescendo, the crowd was treated to an exhilarating performance of “She’s So Lovely,” sending the audience into a frenzy. The encore included the delightful “Michaela Strachan,” a testament to the band’s ability to delight their fans.
In conclusion, Scouting For Girls at The Roundhouse delivered a concert that was not only a musical journey through their chart-topping hits but also a heartwarming celebration of their journey as a band. The combination of infectious energy, engaging anecdotes, and a stellar setlist made this a night to remember for both longtime fans and newcomers alike. Scouting For Girls proved once again why they are a mainstay in the British pop scene – a band that continues to evolve while staying true to their roots.
