As the year winds down, punk-rock enthusiasts The Dollyrots are ensuring we bid farewell to 2023 in a spirited and reflective manner with their latest release, “Auld Lang Syne,” available now via Wicked Cool Records. Known for their infectious energy and raw, unfiltered sound, Kelly Ogden (bass and vocals) and Luis Cabezas (guitar and vocals), accompanied by Simon Hancock on drums for their current tour, inject their signature punked-up vibe into this beloved New Year’s Eve classic.
The Dollyrots’ rendition of “Auld Lang Syne” is a sentimental yet punk-infused anthem that captures the essence of nostalgia and hope for the future. Ogden explains, “We’ve done Christmas originals and covers, a Thanksgiving song… figured we should round it out with something to play at New Years. Usually when Auld Lang Syne comes on I feel a bit wistful… I mean maybe it’s the champagne but it’s also time to reflect on time passed and what we hope for the future. Hopefully, the future is bright and full of goodness, so we made our version reflect that!”
With their unwavering passion for music and their devoted fanbase, The Dollyrots continue to encapsulate the essence of punk-rock while spreading joy and positivity during this holiday season. As we prepare to welcome 2024, their spirited rendition of “Auld Lang Syne” serves as a fitting anthem to bid adieu to the past and embrace a hopeful future.
