Review By Darren McIntyre

Catalysis is a groove metal band from Dundee, Scotland who originally came to our attention in 2016, the boys have given us 1 full-length LP & 4 EPs and they are about to deliver their phenomenal new offering Betrayer on the 15th of December. The new album has already given us singles Gallows, Gone & Mea Culpa and the boys give us the final single from this colossal new offering in the form of Kingmaker. Please settle in as I run the rule over this epic new track.

Kingmaker – The melodic rumbling beast comes at us with a dark shredding riffed intro that breaks into colossal double bass drum kicks that bring in a pounding snare drum beat that really gets this monster off the ground. We get growler vocals that run perfectly with this shredding power-driven track that gives us meaty basslines that wrap themselves around this dark beast as it rears its head and brings us a real gutsy melodic monster that is building and building as the tempo takes us one way then the next as the classy double guitar salvo kicks into overdrive and spearheads the groove as the pounding rhythm section comes hurtling towards us with sheer power as the cymbal crashes rain down on us as we get the epic vocal tones that are working freely with the incredible groove that has depth, attitude and plenty of guts as it comes to a shuddering halt.
