Review By Darren McIntyre
Honeymoon Suite are a rock band from Niagra Falls, Ontario originally formed in 1981, the band’s name was a nod to the fact that Niagra Falls is the unofficial honeymoon capital of the world. The band like most have gone through some personnel changes but they have tried to keep the music as the focus of their journey, the boys have given us 7 studio albums, 2 live albums, 3 compilation albums, 1 EP & 20 singles. On the 12th of February the guys launch their eagerly awaited new album Alive and to whet our appetites they give us the opening single Alive which I will be reviewing for you today.
Alive – Smooth melodic keys flow through the intro as soulful vocals come at us as this foot-stomping piece springs into life. The sweet tones let us feel the 80’s infusion that is flowing freely through this fantastic arrangement, the rhythm section hits us with solid bass kicks as the snare drum punches make themselves known. The deep bassline is wrapping itself around this gritty rocking monster as the sweet cool guitar licks hit us and let the groove do its thing, we have a well-written 80’s melodic rocker track that will have you reaching for the repeat button as the boys deliver a feel-good thigh slapping rock ballad that is everything you need from a kick-ass rock band from Ontario.
