Review By Darren McIntyre
Gab De La Vega is a singer/songwriter from Brescia, Italy who originally has a pink/hardcore background, after years of screaming into a mic he picked up an acoustic guitar and wrote heartfelt, sincere songs about anything that came to mind. 2019 saw him go full band with The Open Cages and he opened for the fabulous Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls. Gab has given us 3 Albums 7 a couple of 7″ for good measure and on March 1st he drops his awesome new album Life Burns and to keep us hooked he drops a new single Off My Chest which I will be reviewing for you today.
Off My Chest – A shuddering power-drenched guitar lick pours from the intro as a full-on bassline drops epic funk grooves that let this foot-stomping monster do its thing. The tempo changes pace as the rhythm section erupts into life and brings us a solid snare drum beat that welcomes bass kicks and killer cymbal crashes that give this track that extra oomph to let it take us on the journey. The vocals are a cool melodic tone that fits this thundering tempo so well as the boys feel so in tune as they deliver a solid rocking groove that just works, the sizzling guitar licks are kicking in the doors and letting us feel the rawness, energy and drive coming from this exciting unit as they keep us hanging on for the new album to hit us.
