Single – Falling in Love (with Rock and Roll)
Release date 2nd February
Review by Linda McDermott
Quiver is a 5-piece hard rock band based in London; they describe themselves as ‘not-so-classic rock’. Going back to 2021, the band members gave themselves a challenge and decided to create this band over the internet during COVID-19. Since then, they have released three singles and a six-track EP which you can listen to on all the usual music platforms to get a taste for their music.
This lively rock and roll anthem sees them starting the year as they mean to go on. It is crafted by the multicultural five-piece band, seamlessly weaving iconic rock band influences into their energetic sound. The band bring to the table a fusion of music from five different countries: Morocco, France, Brazil, Poland and Romania, which means each member contributes a unique flavour drawn from their diverse backgrounds. The synergy of their influences manifests in a track that resonates with the raw power of the likes of AC/DC, Queen, Aerosmith and the bluesy edge of Dirty Honey.
The band are:
Rodrigo Jabah Vocals
Médrick Miara Lead Guitar
Moumen Rais, Rhythm Guitar
Vasi Pasniciuc Bass Guitar
Bartosz Podebski Drums
The song starts with powerful vocals singing to a single beat before bursting into life, adding punchy guitar riffs reminding me of AC/DC’s signature style. The song builds with spoken word running through it as well as the singing covering a great vocal and tonal range. ‘Falling in Love (with Rock and Roll)’ is a headbanger that is a grower.
The band say of the track, “It embodies the band’s shared rock and roll childhood, capturing the essence of their musical journey in both words and rhythm”.
In essence, while carving out their own identity and sound, Quiver has masterfully delivered a track that pays homage to some legendary bands that have influenced them over the years. With this in mind, it means fans of bands like AC/DC, Queen, Aerosmith and Dirty Honey will find themselves drawn to their hard rock music. This year is shaping up to be a breakthrough year for this international outfit so look out for some concert dates so you can check them out live, I don’t think you will be disappointed.
Are they any good? Alice Cooper thinks they are! On Planet Rock he said while playing their song that “This band sounds very intense”.
