Review By Darren McIntyre
NWOBHM legends Saxon are a heavy metal band from Barnsley, England who originally formed in 1975, they had phenomenal success in the 80s with a haul of incredible singles, albums & tours that cemented them as one of the greatest heavy metal acts to ever come out of the UK. The band like most have had some personnel changes but Biff has kept the music the main focus speaking of this they released their killer new single There’s Something In Roswell from their blistering new album Hell, Fire & Damnation drops this week, please settle in as I bring you this colossal new single.
There’s Something In Roswell – The track comes to life with a real sludgy power-riffed guitar lick that is drenched in a pounding rhythm section that lets this awesome beast come to life. The whole track is a foot-stomping, fist-pumping rock n roll juggernaut that lets the incredible vocals tell their own story, Biff has never sounded better in my honest opinion as he belts out gravelly, rasping tones that fit this arrangement perfectly. What smacks you in the face from the off is the chemistry between Doug & Brian as they just kick in the doors and let this monster track take us down the road as we search for Something In Roswell(see what I did there), this is a return to form from a band that just seems to get better with age(like a fine wine), the bassline is hitting us hard with delicious funk grooves that work perfectly with this growling twin attack of shredding guitar riffs that are kept in toe by Mr Glockler as he pounds away from the back of the room as he controls the beat that is wrapped in the awesome vocals of Biff Byford as this phenomenal track just builds and builds with every member bringing the noise and letting us feel the rumbling underfoot.
