Single – Runaway Bride.
Release Date- 2nd February.
Review by Linda McDermott
Dust off those air guitars because here’s a tune that’s fast and furious and worthy of the effort.
If you’ve not heard of White Tyger yet they are West Midland rockers who have been around for over eight years, starting out as a covers band playing classic rock songs by artists such as AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses, Metallica and Motley Crue. Gradually they introduced their own material into their set which was well received by their growing number of fans and spurred them on to have their own identity. They released their debut album ‘This is the Life’ in July 2022, which is a cracking rock album, the songs are a mix of sleaze and heavy metal with influences coming from bands they covered in the early days.
The new single, ‘Runaway Bride’ was featured on the album, but they’ve given it a bit more oomph with a reworking and are re-releasing it on the 2nd of February to kick off what they hope will be their year.
Turn up the volume and get ready for this track to blast away the cobwebs. It starts with some heavy drums and guitar riffs before Nip opens up his vocal cords with notes I know I can’t reach, even though I am giving it my best shot! The singing shows off his vocal range perfectly, he just makes it seem effortless, giving Justin Hawkins (The Darkness) a run for his money.
Chris’s guitar riffs are a standout feature on this track as they are skilfully woven throughout this song, adding some depth and intensity. Chris’s drums and Stephen’s bass enrich the high-energy vibe with a beat and rhythm driving through the entire track. The song just oozes energy and packs a punch as it unravels its story. Lyrically the band says, ‘The song is the story of a fickle bride whose head is easily turned towards people who she perceives have more interesting lives.’
The band are:
Nip Turner – Vocals & Guitar
Chris Hingley – Guitar & Backing Vocals
Stephan Timmins – Bass & Backing Vocals
Jack Ryland-Smith – Drums
Last year they were the winners of the Hard Rock Hell Rising Star Award, and with the hard-working ethos they have, I hope that title continues for them. The band are definitely on the rise, and they say about their gigs ‘we perform wild and crazy shows involving pyrotechnics, dancers, wild antics involving audience members and much more that needs to be seen to be believed!” With that statement my curiosity is piqued, so I think I’m going to have to catch one of their gigs to satisfy it.
With lots of gigs lined up this year, they’ll be playing at a venue near you, so why not listen to the album, get yourself a ticket, and find out for yourselves what these guys are all about?
Tickets are available on their website which is: https://whitetyger.net/gigs-n-tickets
