Review By Darren McIntyre
Bruce ‘ Air Raid Siren’ Dickinson is the enigmatic frontman of British Heavy Metal icon Iron Maiden, when he is not tearing up stages all over the world he is plying his trade with his solo projects. Bruce unveils his 7th solo work The Mandrake Project due for release on March 1st and from that album comes the 2nd offering in the form of Rain On The Graves which follows the highly successful opening track Afterglow Of Ragnarok. Bruce has enlisted a stellar cast of some of the best musicians around and will be taking this new record on the road, please sit back as I walk us through this colossal new offering.
Rain On The Graves – The track opens with a real gritty guitar riff that is quickly joined by a heavy beating bass kick that lets this track come to life. The soaring vocals add to the mystery surrounding this epic arrangement as we get a full-on upright bass that is wrapping itself around this killer track, we have a shredding power riffed guitar lick flowing freely through this melodic number as the keys deliver a mysterious feel to this fist-pumping rock and roll extravaganza. The rhythm section brings solid snare drum punches that invite cymbal crashes that just elevate this cool number to another level, we get the feeling that the story within this composition will take us down another path to somewhere that we don’t wanna go. The musicality is just off the chart as the slick clean guitar hooks grab our attention and suck us into this mesmerising world of darkness that is the perfect solution for this exciting new offering. Bruce’s vocals are sharp, crisp and on point as they navigate their way through this storyline that leaves us on the edge of our seats.
