Review By Darren McIntyre
Bex Marshall is a blues musician/songwriter based in Crouch End, London although she originally grew up in Devon. Bex started playing guitar at age 11 and 18 began working on cruise liners to hone her musical skills, Bex cites Bonnie Raitt, Janis Joplin & Tina Turner as her influences. Bex has given us albums Kitchen Table in 2008, and The House Of Mercy in 2012 & on March 1st she drops her exquisite new offering Fortuna, from which we have already had the opening blues explosion of 5 am which I reviewed for you back in January, today Bex brings us her killer new single I Just Can’t Look You In The Eye, please sit back pour yourself a bourbon & coke and feel the blues wash over you.

I Can’t Look You In The Eye – A cool punchy bass kick combines with a slick blues guitar lick that welcomes snare drum punches that let this soulful arrangement open. The blues-soaked vocals flow effortlessly through this foot-stomping beast as the funk element lets us feel the blues run freely from this fantastic piece. The cool sweet guitar notes are wrapping themselves around this bass-soaked number as the delicious tones take this southern blues track to another place as this classy composition just lets us feel the swagger pouring from this well-rounded blues piece. The epic slide guitar tones give this track depth, attitude and a real how-down feeling that just puts a smile on your face.
