Review By Darren McIntyre
Albert Louis Hammond OBE is a singer/songwriter/record producer who has collaborated with songwriters such as Mike Hazlewood, John Bettis, Hal David, Diane Warren, Holly Knight & Carole Bayer Sayer, Hammond’s son Albert Hammond Jr is the guitarist in rock band The Strokes. Albert has written for an array of stars and more notable artists such as Joe Dolan, Starship, Whitney Houston, The Hollies & Leo Sayer, Albert was born in London with origins in Gibraltar. Albert is a singer/guitarist in his own right but is best known for writing for other artists. Albert brings us his first album in over 20 years Body Of Work and from that comes the first single Looking Back which I will be reviewing for you today.
Looking Back – The track opens with melodic synth tones that allow Albert’s soulful vocals to flow freely through the intro as the arrangement bursts into life. The cool rhythm section hits us with punchy snare drum beats that give the track depth as the cool melodies come at us and let this toe-tapping synth-laden piece tell its own story as the bassline drops sweet, delicious grooves that are wrapped in colossal guitar picks that give the track a nice soulful feel as we are taken on the journey with Albert as he opens the arrangement and lets the musicality flow and absorb us in the depth of this fine body of work(see what I did there).
