Lutharo – ‘Chasing Euphoria’

Spread the love

Melodic Death Metal

Atomic Fire Records

Release Date – March 15th 2024

Lutharo were formed in 2014 in Hamilton, Ontario and since then they have released a load of singles, three EP’s and a debut full length so this here is their sophomore record and first for Atomic Fire.

A chilling orchestral introduction and military snare start before a death-like scream and crushing guitars bring you sharply back to reality. This is proper heavy and dark and so is ‘Reaper’s Call’ where singer Krista Shipperbottom goes from cutesy pop princess to Satan’s little sister then we get some brutal death metal/deathcore on ‘Ruthless Bloodline’ but, oh boy, what a catchy chorus.

‘Time To Rise’ shows another side of Shipperbottom’s voice – man she can sing anything and roar with the best of them and proves it over a machine gun riff. ‘Born To Ride’ brings some melodic metal Maiden influence before the Viking power metal of ‘Bonded To The Blade’ and the title track.

‘Creating A King’ is a rattling, raucous slab of symphonic death metal with another huge catchy chorus and that continues of ‘Strong Enough’ before the darker biting and vicious ‘Paradise Or Parasite’. The final cut ‘Freedom Of The Night’ starts with some beautiful medieval-inspired lines before it develops into a crushing modern metal anthem.

This is awesome with aspects of death metal, Viking metal and symphonic passages that add real power to the songs. Pounding rhythms, razor-sharp guitars and huge melodies! The Star of the show is Shipperbottom who is as sweet as a lollipop and as vicious as an alley cat! You gotta hear this but don’t be last in line!
