Concert Review: Don’t Panic at Camden Assembly, London

Review and Photos by Damien Harvey

Don’t Panic took to the stage at Camden Assembly in London on the 29th of March delivering an energetic performance that thrilled the audience despite encountering some technical difficulties. The band’s setlist was a mix of their own original tracks and well-known covers, showcasing their versatility and musical prowess.

Kicking off with “Woe I,” Don’t Panic immediately set the tone for the night, captivating the crowd with their infectious energy. “Just a Call Away” and “No Time for Second Chances” followed suit, drawing the audience further into their dynamic performance.

However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing for the band, as they faced issues with the sound throughout the set. At times, the guitars were too low in the mix, prompting the band to request adjustments from the sound engineer on the fly. Despite these hiccups, Don’t Panic remained composed and professional, ensuring that the show went on without major disruptions. It made us wonder if they hadn’t had the opportunity for a proper soundcheck.

Despite this, the band’s performance remained tight and cohesive, a testament to their professionalism and adaptability.

Tracks like “The Long Way” and “Black & Blue & White” showcased the band’s ability to blend catchy melodies with heartfelt lyrics, while covers like “Jessie’s Girl” added a nostalgic touch to the evening. “Ramona” and “Consequence Be Damned” kept the momentum going, with the band delivering each song with passion and precision.

Closing out the night with “Fall of ’99,” Don’t Panic left the audience wanting more, their infectious energy lingering long after the final chords faded away. Despite the technical hiccups, the band’s talent and enthusiasm shone through, leaving a lasting impression on all who were lucky enough to witness their performance.

Overall, Don’t Panic’s concert at Camden Assembly was a testament to their musical and stage presence. While they faced some challenges with the sound, their energetic performance and undeniable talent ultimately stole the show, proving that even in the face of adversity, they can deliver a memorable performance.
