Review By Darren McIntyre
Imogen Clark is an Australian singer/songwriter now based in Nashville, Tennessee who is dropping her new thought-provoking single Squinters upon us. The track comes from her soon-to-be-released new album The Art Of Getting Through which has already given us Big One which received praise from far and wide. Imogen takes her inspiration from the likes of HAIM, Maggie Rogers, Bruce Springsteen & Sheryl Crow, the thing about Imogen is that her storytelling Indie of pop music is deeply personal & diaristic. Her songs elevate intimate emotions to arena-scaled anthems that will have us talking about this young artist for some time to come, please join me as I walk us through this incredible new offering.
Squinters – A cool synth tone lingers through the intro as sweet clean guitar picks take this track on the road it brings a solid smooth snare drum punch that really lets this track tell its own story. The smooth, soulful, melodic vocals really grab your attention as this toe-tapping-provoking piece unfolds and transports us to another place. The dark, full-on bassline drops meaty funk grooves that work so well in this Indie – pop based track as the whole arrangement just delivers with ease as the cool keys section brings a soulful edge to this real storytelling track that flows effortlessly through and really captures our imagination as the slow pulsing groove just comes at us and really lets the epic vocals shine and let this charismatic musician do her thing.
