Sonic Universe – Higher – Single Review – duffpress

Sonic Universe is the collaboration of Corey Glover(Living Colour) & Mike Orlando(Adrenaline Mob) who brought us their debut single I Am which set the bar for their follow-up Higher which is a call for strength & resistance in the face of opposition. Higher is taken from their soon-to-be-released monster debut album It Is What It Is which is due to drop from the heavens above on May 10th, please settle in as I ready us for this fist-clenching beast as it steamrolls towards us.

Higher – A colossal guitar lick erupts from the get-go as a thundering rhythm section kicks in and brings us a solid snare drum groove that allows this epic arrangement the room it needs to deliver. Corey comes in with his killer vocals that are wrapped in a deep funking bassline that just accompanies this foot-stomping, fist-pumping rock n roll juggernaut as it crashes the party and lets us feel the energy, swagger and all-out groove oozing from these 4 incredible musicians. The tempo is a solid fast-paced affair as the rhythm section delivers a punchy stop-go beat that is joined by a colossal guitar solo that gives us crisp, clean-off-the-scale chords that just let this track breathe. The vocals are solid as they guide this epic composition onwards as the boys just dig deep and bring us a non-stop action-packed track that will have us reaching for the repeat button for sure.
