Review By Darren McIntyre
Accept is a heavy metal band from Solingen, West Germany originally formed in 1976 by Wolf Hoffmann, Udo Dirkschneider & Peter Baltes. Like most bands of that era, there have been some personnel changes but the band has always kept the music as the main focus, also like most there have been some breaks in their formation but they continue to record and tour to this very day. The boys have given us 16 studio albums and on the 26th of April they dropped from Heaven album no 17 in the form of Humanoid, from that comes their second single The Reckoning which I will be reviewing for you today. Please settle yourself in as I prepare us for this rocking onslaught from these metal masters from Germany.
The Reckoning – From the outset, we get a dark moody guitar intro hotly followed by a thundering double bass kick that lets this rocking beast rear its head and let this colossal track open and soar. The gravelly rasping vocals bring a real heaviness to this epic arrangement as the track hits us with all it has as the full-on bassline drops meaty funk grooves all through the composition as this fist-pumping rock n roll juggernaut slays all comers with its heart-pumping groove as the twin guitar salvo delivers with precision as the boys offload with crisp, clean licks that are wrapped in a pounding rhythm section that hits us with a cool solid snare drum beat that has a thumping double bass kick that drops cool cymbal crashes all over us as we stamp our feet and punch the air with real gusto. The vocals are solid with real depth as they deliver a fantastic rasping tone that fits this track so well.
