Avenged Sevenfold – Cosmic – Single Review – mercenarypublicity

Review By Darren McIntyre

Avenged Sevenfold (AX7} are a heavy metal band from Huntington Beach, California originally formed in 1999, the band are known for their diverse rock sound & dramatic imagery. The boys have given us 8 studio albums including their latest juggernaut Life Is But A Dream which is the name of their current tour, that tour which is touring the USA, Europe and beyond will be headlining Download this year. Today the boys drop their colossal new single Cosmic which the 78-piece San Bernadino Symphony Orchestra backs, please ready yourself for this 7 1/2 minute masterpiece.

Cosmic – The track begins with melodic soulful vocals that let the haunting melody bring this track to our attention as the deep bass kicks combine with cymbal snaps that let us feel the colossal tone running effortlessly through the intro. The chilling guitar licks are building and give this track a solid edgy footing as we allow the rhythm section to break out and deliver a punchy kick that works so well in this toe-tapping rock opera.

The full-on bassline drops dark, meaty tones all through the arrangement and they get the juices flowing from this incredible piece of music, the addition of sweet piano tones just lifts this haunting composition to another level as the boys dig deep and come at us with a well written, melodic number that just ticks all the boxes. The brass section is just incredible as it adds depth and tone to this already groove-laden number as the boys really break out and bring a thundering snare-driven beat that allows all of the symphony to bring a little piece of tone to this already bursting track as the band lets the synth tones wash over us as this monumental arrangement just whisks us away to another place as the strings catch your attention and allow us to be taken to a far off land that just delivers this thought-provoking track that draws you in.
