Demi Marriner is a singer/songwriter bringing old-school Nashville with SoCal Americana, fashioned in Wales and formed in the Black Country. Demi has given us a couple of EPs and delivered us her debut album The Things We Didn’t Say last year to rave reviews which also caught the ear of Whispering Bob Harris. The success of both EP & Album has allowed Demi to share the stage with the likes of Rufus Wainwright, Guy Chambers, Jon Gomm, Elles Bailey and many many more. Demi is out on tour at the minute and tonight she stops off @ Voodoo Rooms in Edinburgh to let us bear witness to this incredible artist and what she has to offer, the place is filling up nicely as Dami strolls out from the dressing room with her trademark cowboy hat and takes to the stage to rapturous applause. Demi introduces herself and asks how many people have seen her before and also tells us that she hopes we laugh at her terrible jokes which brings a huge cheer, we settle in as Demi brings us –
Sins – Acoustic strumming chords pour from the stage as Demi brings tonight’s show to life with cool strumming grooves that bring her soulful blues vocals to our attention. The depth of her lyrics is just incredible as she takes us on a journey that brings us closer to this incredibly talented musician as she pours her heart and soul into tonight’s opening track, Demi asks us for our help as she tells us to sing back and we cannot help but do as she asks and get into the spirit of tonight’s entertainment. The track lets us get into the groove as Demi brings a smoothness and a track full of emotion and well-written lyrically that tells us that this young lady is one to watch for sure, the place erupts with a hail of applause and hollering as Demi thanks us for our support as we roll into
Distorted Desires – Sweet cool acoustic guitar fills the air as Demi lets her melodic vocals bring this fantastic track to life as the tone oozes from the stage as Demi settles into the venue with ease. The vocals are just incredible as we feel the depth of her lyrics as they echo all around us the place is silent as we all watch the stage and just smile from ear to ear as we witness something special tonight as this crowd gets to know this shining star of the Americana / Blues world as she takes us on the journey with her as she just takes it all in her stride which is just magical let me tell you. We clap loudly and get into this incredible talent as she jokes with us that she wanted to take the disco ball home with her but didn’t think it would fit in her bag, we stroll into
One Way Conversation – The tone is stripped back a little as the groove is a darker mood as we get into the thoughts of this fantastic artist as the lyrics ooze from the stage. The track is a real thought-provoking piece that lets Demi bring her soulful melodic vocals to the fine people of Edinburgh as she settles into her stride and delivers a soul-searching mellow track that allows us to go on the journey with her as she digs deep and lets the words take us to another place. The place is silent as we are fixed on the stage as this sweet, talented musician just lets the track fill the air with mellow grooves and well-written lyrics that let us get to know this insanely talented musician as we stroll into
Think Of Me – Mellow guitar chords come at us as this foot-tapping upbeat track unfolds with awesome vocals that really grab you and let us feel the emotion pouring from this fantastic musician. The vocals are mesmerising and we are instantly put at ease as she lets the groove carry the track through this impressive venue tonight the place just lets her do her thing and bring the Americana vibe to Auld Reekie tonight. The vocals are smooth, and soulful and just put us at ease as we get into the groove and feel the track grab us and take us to another place for sure as Demi delivers a well-crafted, thoughtful, emotion-filled arrangement that tells us that this young lady is going to be around for a very long time indeed, we are just getting warmed up as Demi takes us into
The Light – The track begins with sweet acoustic strumming chords that let Demi’s incredible vocals take this track up another level as we stand frozen as this awesome track just captures this talented musician in all her glory. The crowd are swaying from side to side as we get the emotion connected to this track as her incredible vocals soar through the venue tonight, we are witnessing something special tonight let me tell you as we will be talking about this young talent for a long time to come. The night has just gotten better for this musician to be here in Edinburgh tonight as I think there are a lot of people who have never seen this musician and let me tell you those who missed it missed a real talent doing her thing, we are getting to the business end of tonight’s show as we roll into
God Nor Devil – A real funky guitar strumming tone oozes from the stage as Demi brings this real funky track to life with ease as her incredible vocals as this toe-tapping track brings the groove tonight. The lyrics are sweet and deliver a track that fits tonight’s entertainment as Demi scans the room and just lets the tone flow effortlessly through this majestic venue tonight is smiling from ear to ear as we watch this talented lady take us on a journey that allows the vocals to wrap themselves around us as this awesome track lets her vocals do the talking tonight and let her deliver a thought-provoking well-written arrangement that elevates her to another level for sure, we roll into
Good Guy Act – Soothing sweet acoustic guitar tones are flowing effortlessly from the stage as Demi’s insane vocals join us and let this awesome track come to life. The foot stomping tone is a real shift in tempo as the place is clapping and feeling the funkier side of Demi flow into the venue the tone is a real upbeat melodic number as the smooth melodic vocals reach everyone tonight as we get into this fantastic musician as she just cuts loose and strums with ease on her guitar and lets her soaring vocals take us to another place tonight as we just stand and witness something special tonight from this talent, we are still buzzing as we don’t want tonight to end as Demi leaves the stage to rapturous applause before she returns to bring us her last track in the form of
Little Boy – Demi tunes her guitar and brings us the final track of tonight’s fantastic show in the form of this cool strumming affair that brings us her incredible smokey blues-filled vocals that just let this track take shape. The tone is incredible and captures tonight’s feel as this incredible track brings something special to Voodoo Rooms tonight as we listen intently and just watch in awe of this fantastic musician as she brings the groove to us tonight. The place is silent as we are fixed on the stage as Demi wanders effortlessly through this track and lets her incredible vocals take us to another place feel the emotion oozing from tonight’s show as the place goes wild for this talented lady as she takes the applause, cheers, hollers and thanks us all for coming to see her for most of us for the first time and I include myself in that category, this young lady is not to be missed so next time get along and support live music.
