Anette Olzon – Day Of Wrath – Single Review – motion agency

Review By Darren McIntyre

Anette Ingegerd Olsson aka Anette Olzon is a powerhouse vocalist from Katrinholm, Sweden who is former lead vocalist of Nightwish, The Dark Element & Alyson Avenue and has been active since 1988. Anette has given us albums Shine in 2014, and Strong in 2021 and is about to deliver her highly anticipated 3rd offering Rapture, from this incredible new album comes the stunning new single Day Of Wrath which I will be reviewing for you today.

Day Of Wrath – The track begins with a stunning stringed section that brings in synth overtones that build this symphonic arrangement as it erupts with a shredding guitar riff that just allows the track to open and soar. The thundering rhythm section delivers a pounding double bass kick that just lets the groove hit us straight in the face with its intense tones and killer foot-stomping licks, the addition of the backing vocals really lifts this composition to another level as this growler-laden beast brings in a full-on bassline that just wraps itself around this symphonic haunting piece as the tempo changes direction and lets the tone do its thing. The growler vocal tones are just incredible as they add depth, attitude and bags of swagger to this melodic masterpiece Anette lets her vocals tear through this thundering track as the band gives it all they have as this fast, furious, rasping beast bares its teeth and tells us that Anette is back and raring to go.
