Voodoo Radio are a power pop-punk infused dou that is Paige & Tony Cook from Ulverston, Cumbria who divide their time between Cumbria & Hammersmith. The duo started rocking the tunnels of Leicester Sq tube station in 2018 and were discovered by John Brice & AP Childs whilst they were en route to a gig in the capitol, they exchanged number and continued writing and this has paid off as they recently gained a record deal. They have bben played on BBC Radio 6 by Steve Lamacq, Tony Robinson and have played countless festivals up and down the country, they recently opened for Big Country and are booked to play alongside the likes of The Skids, Sham 69, Ferocious Dog, Eater 999 & many more. Tonight this engaging Daughter – Father duo bring their infectious punk, pop rock show to Bannermans so please sit back as I take in the sounds of this energy driven unit as they ready us for some thundering beats as they hit us with –
Eat Your Words – A cool backing bassline is letting this thundering monster open with a killer rhythm beat as Tony slips in with a gritty edgy guitar fill that lets Paige bring her cool vocals to this foot stomping, power ravaged killer track as the duo get into the groove as this crowd really gets behing this cool funky beat that is erupting from the stage tonight. The interaction is just fantastic as Tony is in his own space rocking out and Paige is bringing the groove with killer beats that let us feel the chemistry between this fantastic daughter – father rhythm section, we roll into –
Pretty Boy – Paige chats with us as she picks an unsuspecting victim from the crowd and tells us it’s about him in the hat, we chuckle as Paige says you should be proud I picked you as this crunching track comes to life. The pounding snare drum beats are working in unison with Tony as he cuts a fine figure with killer riffs that let this foot stomping groover track breathe, we get cool vocals from Paige as she lets the funk element pour from the stage as this short, sharp eruption of shredding guitar and punchy rhythm beats really grabs our attention as we rock into –
Basic Bitch – Paige chats with us and recently had someone ask if Tony was her boyfriend which she replied absolutely not lol which gets a belly full of laughs from this swelling crowd. The crunching guitar rolls in as the punchy rhythm section comes through with a snare drum beat that has a killer bass punch that really allows the groove to flow, the track is a real fist pumping edgy riffed track that sees Tony cut loose and hit us with a shredding solo that is just pure magic, the duo are really letting their hair down as the crowd really gets into them in a big way, we stroll into
Slag Bank – This is a track inspired by where Paige used to play as a child and this brought her to write a song about this place so here we go. The killer guitar riffs are filling the room as the duo kick in the doors with a slick punchy rhythm beat that is wrapped in the soaring vocals that really let this track open and soar, we are drawn in by this energetic duo as they pull us in with a chorus of oggi oggi oggi and we reply oi oi oi which brings a roar of approval from this excited crowd. The place is really warming to this killer duo as they drive their infectious roaring pop-punk grooves right through Bannermans tonight, we catch our breathe as we roll into
Ice Cream Man – Paige chats with us and says she needs our help with the chorus and we need to bellow back lalalalala lol. The track comes to life with a punchy snare drum beat that has bass kicks to really let this track come for us, the shredding guitar licks are letting this toe tapping groover do it’s thing as the duo really up the tempo as this killer little groove laden piece brings a coolness to Bannermans tonight as the place joins in and really gets behind this energy driver pair as we stroll effortlessly into another rasping track in the form of
Dog – Tony steps forward as he lets rip with a shredding salvo that allows Paige to bring the groove with a deep punchy bass kick that really gets us all worked up for sure. The soulful vocals are strong and really fill the place as we get into this infectious feisty pair as they drop a killer riff that just lets the tone come for us, they duo are really enjoying themselves as they rock out and really give us what we came for tonight as the place claps loudly as we stroll into Stupid Humans – A killer guitar riff pours from the stage as the duo bring a foot tapping killer beat that just lets this place come to life as we feel the rawness oozing from the stage tonight. Vocals are a real soulful tone that works well with this edgy groove laden rocker track that just wants you to start dancing with the sheer energy coming from this power ravaged duo as they cut loose and bring us a thundering bass driven track that is littered with killer guitar licks that just want you to start air guitaring as this place really opens itself up to this fantastic outfit, next up is
She’s So Toxic – Paige chats about this track which is about a guy with a stutter and a love triangle which brings a laught from the audience tonight. From the off we get a soaring guitar riff that is wrapped in a pounding rhythm section that brings a snare drum beat that is filling the room tonight, we get killer vocals that are strong, vibrant and full of energy as the track builds and builds as Paige really gets the place going with her pounding groove and Tony lets rip with searing guitar riffs that really give this place energy tonight as we roll into –
Space Girl – A pounding bass kick brings this roaring monster to our attention as Paige lets her vocals do the talking as this foot stomping rock n roll groover takes the roof off of Bannermans tonight. The track has depth, grit and bags of juice as the pair look like they are really enjoying themselves as they deliver a no nonsense groove that is just on the money, we are really getting into this pair as they deliver a fun packed, energy driven set that is just catching our attention and leaving us wanting more from this fantastic pair as we hit the last track of the night in the form of
Turn Out The Light – The banter between the pair is just brilliant as they chat about the track that was written about Paige and her one night stand lol. A slick power driven guitar riff erupts as the rhythm section kicks in as we get a solid snare drum beat that welcomes this shredding beast of a track that has really turned us onto this powering duo that will have us talking about tonight’s show for some time to come. The fist pumping, toe tapping rocker track is just brilliant as we feel the pureness oozing from the pair as they deliver a crackin set of feisty, pop-punk infused tracks that are littered with innuendo’s, banter and sheer quality that is just on the money, this exciting duo are real value for money as they get in, get out and deliver a no nonsense set of short, sharp in your face tracks that are just awesome.
