Support – The Hot One Two & Big Iron
La Belle, Edinburgh
Friday 26th April
Review and Photographs by Linda McDermott
La Belle Angele is one of Edinburgh’s great live music venues hidden away up an alley at the bottom of the Cow-gate in the old town area of the city. This venue used to be a night club, boasting guests such as Oasis and Radiohead before a fire ripped through it in 2002. Twenty-two years after the tragedy it’s the bands that are on fire, as tonight, the venue is full of rock fans out to see She Burns Red’s fourth sold out Scottish show.
Big Iron
First to set the night alight are Edinburgh rock band Big Iron, who have a great sound and are full of energy. Tonight, they had a stand in drummer Liam from the band Wild Fire who played brilliantly but insisted that he would only stand in for them if they did their version of ‘Gay Bar’.

As much as it’s a great cover of the song, this band are more than that, they have brilliant original songs and demonstrate their musical and lyrical skills with each one they perform. As well as all the tracks from their EP ‘It Gets Bigger’ the guys played their new single ‘Daiquiri’ which is out this Friday and is a cracker of a song that got a great reception from the crowd.

Having only formed last year I recommend that you look out for the guys, because Big Iron is a name you’re going to be hearing a lot of. Follow them on the socials as they are very funny guys that have a unique way of advertising their new merch and upcoming gigs.

You can catch them at Call of the Wild Festival at Lincoln show ground 24th to 26th May and at The Garage Attic, Glasgow 20th July.
