Review By Glen Parkes
British rock band Collateral is poised to make a significant impact with their highly anticipated sophomore album, “Should’ve Known Better,” set for release on May 24, 2024. this album promises to elevate the band’s in the rock music scene.
The first single from the album, “Glass Sky,” brings his signature touch to the album, infusing it with massive riffs, hooks, and an overall feel-good guitar vibe from the opening thud on the drum you get the feeling this album will be something to talk about over the coming months Angelo’s voice hits the highs you want a rock album to have and the musicianship of the band matches that fantastic start to the album .
“Should’ve Known Better” follows the success of Collateral’s self-titled debut album, which reached the Top 5 of the UK Rock Album Chart in 2020. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, the band maintained their momentum the Kent-based quartet, consisting of Angelo Tristan (vocals, guitar), Louis Malagodi (guitar), Jack Bentley-Smith (bass), and Ben Atkinson (drums), have honed their craft and are ready to showcase their evolution.
The album reflects a significant leap in production quality, thanks to Weller’s expertise. Frontman Angelo Tristan acknowledges that their debut lacked in production, but with Weller’s help, they have achieved a state-of-the-art sound that enhances the emotional depth of each track. Tristan’s lyrics and the band’s compositions aim to resonate with listeners, offering both optimism and solace.
Tracks like the uplifting “Just One Of Those Days” capture the essence of finding hope and positivity other tracks of note for me are No place for Love and Elysium . and In contrast, we get the track “The Long Road,” a powerful ballad, that delves into deeper emotional territory, offering comfort to those in need this track for me shows the bands talent of how well the guys have grown The album’s diversity is its strength, providing a soundtrack to life’s varied experiences this is one of my albums of the year so far well done to all involved .
Each song is crafted with precision and passion, showcasing the band’s growth and the robust production quality that defines the album. Recorded at Marshall Studios in Milton Keynes and mastered by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound, the technical aspects of the album ensure a polished and immersive listening experience.
Should’ve Known Better is more than just an album; it’s a journey through the highs and lows of life love and rock a moment in time when powerful rock music can give you a lift and make your day . Collateral has created a timeless record that not only captures their artistic evolution but also offers something profoundly relatable to their audience. This album is set to put Collateral in the rock pantheon and leave a lasting impact on fans and newcomers alike.
