Apocalyptica – One(Ft James Hetfield) – Single Review – for the win media

Apocalyptica are a symphonic metal trio from Helsinki, Finland who formed in 1993. The boys have collaborated with a host of musicians throughout their careers and continue to this day with their latest offering One(Ft James Hetfield) as he lends his colossal vocals to this symphonic masterpiece. The boys have like most had some changes in personnel but have kept the music at the forefront of their quest to bring epic tales and symphonies to the masses. They have given us 10 studio albums and this includes Plays Metallica Vol 2 which delivers us this journey which I will be reviewing for you today.

One(Ft James Hetfield) – The track rises from the ashes and immediately grabs your senses as this haunting melodic number as the boys take us through this mesmerising arrangement. The tempo pulls at your thoughts and really gets us ready as James Hetfield brings his epic spoken vocal to this classic composition, we are feeling the beat come at us as the sweet pounding snare drum beat lets the groove build as the haunting strings really build as this soaring beast readies us for what is to come. The classic track is just weaving one way then the next as the tempo builds and builds as the symphonic notes and the colossal brass section delve deeper into our soul as this incredible arrangement just grabs us and really delivers something incredible that just reaches into your psychy and messes with our emotions as the tempo pulls us one way then the next as the thundering rhythm section kicks in the doors and really delivers a thunderous attack that is backed by incredible cello notes that just give this track depth, swagger and a real sense that we have just witnessed something incredible that was made all the sweeter by the insane vocal talents of James Hetfield. The soaring tones, intense groove and all conquering musicality just grab your attention and take it somewhere new.
