Grand Slam is set to captivate rock enthusiasts once again with their upcoming album, “Wheel of Fortune,” to be release on June 7, 2024. This much-anticipated album will be available in both digital and physical formats, and pre-orders are already open for fans eager to get their hands on this latest creation.
A New Dawn for Grand Slam
“Wheel of Fortune” represents not just a new album but a fresh chapter for Grand Slam. The band, originally fronted by the legendary Phil Lynott, has undergone a renaissance under the guidance of guitarist Laurence Archer. Archer’s determination to bring the true essence of Grand Slam’s music to life is evident in this latest endeavor.
Reviving the Past, Embracing the Future
In addition to “Wheel of Fortune,” Grand Slam will re-release their debut album “Hit The Ground,” originally launched in 2019. This revised edition, titled “Hit The Ground – Revised,” will be available digitally on May 10 and physically on June 7. The remixed, remastered album features new artwork and is part of Archer’s mission to properly showcase the band’s original songs, which were previously marred by poor-quality demos. Songs like “There Goes My Heart” and “Trail Of Tears” are expected to resonate deeply with fans, while tracks such as “Come Together (In Harlem)” and “Pirate Song” highlight the band’s versatile musical influences.
Reflecting on the journey, Archer shares, “I stopped playing for a while and started a film career. In 2018, I was working on location in Guadalupe and decided to record the Grand Slam songs properly. Phil and I had done some work-in-progress demos in his backyard studio, but they were stolen and released without our consent. It’s always been a goal of mine to re-visit those songs and do them properly, showcasing them fittingly for over 30 years, instead of hearing those horrible demos that people put out.”
“Wheel of Fortune” boasts a powerful lineup featuring Mike Dyer on vocals, Laurence Archer on guitars, Benjy Reid on drums, and Rocky Newton on bass. The album is produced by Archer, engineered by Pieter Rietkerk, and mixed by Archer himself, with mastering by Matt Wortham and Andy Pearce.
“Wheel of Fortune” promises to be a milestone for Grand Slam, blending the rich history of the band with a forward-looking vision. With a robust lineup, meticulous production, and Archer’s unyielding dedication to quality, this album is set to reaffirm Grand Slam’s place in the rock pantheon. Be sure to mark your calendars for June 7, 2024, and prepare to experience a band that’s not just revisiting its past but blazing a trail into its future.
