Review By Darren McIntyre

Freya Beer is a singer / songwriter from West London who came to our attention in 2018 with her debut singles Bike Boy & Six Months. Freya brings a devil may care attitude that has disperate gothic influences running through her haunting lyrics, Freya has been on BBC Introducing Live Lounge Sessions, Tom Robinson’s BBC Radio 6 Music. Freya brought us her debut album Beast in 2021, fast forward to 2023 where she gave us double AA side single Fantasy / Galore and this has allowed her the opportunity to appear at Latitude Festival and support Honeyblood, make her live US debut in New York City, 2024 is going to be Freya’s year and she has already given us Write Her Off(Who) and follows that with her captivating new offering Tatianna which I will be reviewing for you today.

Tatianna – A pounding snare drum gets this melodic number off the ground as Freya lets her soulful vocals wrap around this foot stomping rasping track. The bassline joins in and drops cool funk laden grooves that work so well in this classic track as we feel the depth oozing from this enigmatic young rock star as she allows the beat to flow. The slick clean guitar licks are giving this track a little swagger as we feel the stop start tempo kick in the doors and just let this musician express herself as this electro groove arrangement just floats off to another place and really let us inside the mind of this promising young artist.
