Release Date – August 23rd 2024

Immortal Synn hail from Denver, Colorado and were formed in 2004 until 2006. I don’t know why they split but they reformed in 2012 and have been in existence ever since. They are unashamedly heavy metal with their fingers and toes well within the pools of Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Megadeth.

Opener ‘Zwischenzug’ (which translates from German as ‘Intermediate Train’?) has more than a passing resemblance to ‘Blacklist’ by Exodus before the crunchy ‘Don’t Feed The Animals’ has a mid-period Priest feel then we get the galloping ‘Blind As A Bat’ where singer Duel Shape puts in a shift. ‘The Truth’ is introduced by some 80’s synths before the riff comes in and Shape gives us a proper Metal scream and we’re off on a power metal chugger and that wonderful chug is continued on the title track.

This took me back because it’s full of all those fantastic metal clichés, but they’re done really well – cheesy as hell but well played. Singer Duel Shape has a fabulous voice and the guitarists Brad Wagner and Tony Z are a force to be reckoned with. Shout out to the rhythm section of former Grim Reaper bassman Chaz Grimaldi and drummer Axel Berrios who really lay it down. This lot will be touring the US this summer so catch them when you can.
