EP – Rapture
Release Date – 21st June 24
Review by Linda McDermott
Wild Fire will release their third EP, ‘Rapture’ on the 21st of June, and if you are fans of Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and the likes, you’re going to want to have a listen when it is released on Friday.
The four piece band from the Scottish borders have carved a name for themselves up and down the country and have a track record for building great metal songs with melody and drama, helped along with big riffs, thunderous drums and Mikey’s full range of vocals.
Band
Mikey Roberts – Vocals
Liam Roberts – Drums
Keir Ballantyne – Guitar
Lewis Stanners – Bass
With two EP’s already under their belts in the shape of ‘Screaming for Mercy’ and Buried Deep’ both of which are worthy of a download, this four song EP continues in the same vein, with a more polished set of tracks they should be proud of.
Having followed this band the last couple of years I love the way they build a picture and tell a story with their emotive sound that carries you along as their tales unfold.
Tracks
Against the Tide
Blackened Heart
Scattered
Rapture
Against The Tide – What a great introduction to the EP, its a hard-hitting song that grabs you right from the start. You always know a winning track when it has you nodding along on its first listen and that’s exactly what I’m doing with this one.
Blackened Heart – Rages into play with a heavy drum beat and is moodier than the last song with its tense intro. Mikey then takes over with a haunting voice hammering home a tale of jealousy and treachery.
Scattered – bursts into life, again with Liam playing ferocious drums, setting a gripping tone for Mikey to unleash a melodically narrated tale of chaos and destruction with a powerful feel to it as he reaches notes I can only dream of reaching. It all adds to the intensity of the song while he tells of the struggle for redemption. The music itself delivers passion and apprehension through its fierce riffs, reflecting the mood of the story being told, something this band are just great at.
Rapture – the title track and another epic saga to take you on a journey through its intricate and emotional narrative. I love the calm tone of the vocals before it erupts with angst. Each musical twist and turn carries the song forward and see Mikey, Liam, Lewis and Keir finish this EP with everything that is Wild Fire, which is a lyrically and musically accomplished band.
