Mark Daly – Better Off Alone (Single) “One Opportunity Records”

Written by Flynn Herondale

June 2024

Irish singer-songwriter Mark Daly set to continue a successful solo career with new single Better Off Alone, releasing June 21st.

Launching off the back of successful tracks Pieces feat. Emily Armstrong and Gotta Run (which have gardered around 25k Spotify streams and over 114k streams respectively), Daly’s latest track is sure to meet the same level of appreciation.

The single features an upbeat rock rhythm, combined with scratchy, soul filled vocals and those self-deprecating “I have no idea what I’m doing but I’m winging it” lyrics that speak to so many of us. The story speaks of the pain of feeling out of your depth and alone in a world you’ve suddenly found yourself expected to succeed in. It’s the moment we all just say “fuck it”, stand up and admit we’ve gotten completely lost but are going to go it alone and ride the wave anyway. It’s a great road trip song, full of rocky summer vibes and brimming with festival potential.

Previously a member of The Voodoos, having performed at the MTV EMA Awards, and during a European and US tour; Mark Daly can certainly hold his own with such a single in front of a live audience. Daly has friends and colleagues in all the right places too. Not only has he worked with the man behind some of Thirty Seconds To Mars’ best tracks, producer Brian Virtue, but he is also on the watch list of Autism advocates due to the success of his Autism Awareness charity single Your World, inspired by his son Noah.

With the new album ‘Devil’s Arms’ set to release this August (2024) via Opportunity Records and a US tour due to start in September, Daly is set to go from strength to strength with the new releases.
