Not Now Norman are a great band that features father and daughter, Zander and Taylor-Grace, who just seem to get it right with their hard-hitting songs. I love Taylor-Grace’s attitude as through the bands music she basically gives the middle finger to everyone who has ever trolled her or put her down and I like that she takes no prisoners in fighting back.

The bands sound is in your face, full of aggression and angst and this comes across in the second song to be released from the forthcoming album ‘Go Hard or Go Home’, the first being ‘Why Don’t You Like Me’ which was also a cracker of a track.

Taylor-Grace says of the song “Who I Am’, was originally about the horrors of PTSD and abuse, but after its first recording Taylor-Grace decided to rewrite it to suit the upbeat-aggressive nature of the track. “Halfway through re-recording and rewriting it I had a flashback which is where it ‘freestyles’ a bit. The song is about looking to all the traumatic things you’ve been through and realising how far you have come as a person. And how through sheer spite and determination, you’re still here telling the universe to f*ck off!”

This song grabs you from the start with Zander on guitar before Taylor-Grace comes in with great vocals that deliver her message with power and energy. With strong guitar riffs and a great drum beat encompassing her lyrics it’s a winning track. The band are intense with their delivery and are a hard-hitting rock band that are gaining bigger audiences, and rightly so.

I recently saw Not Now Norman at the Call of the Wild Festival in Lincoln and I have to say they went down a storm. Dressed in red plumage and a bird head piece Taylor-Grace sang with conviction and an intensity that had the audience enthralled with their whole set. As they continue to tour and release more songs from the forthcoming album, they will grow their fan base extensively. I think they have an undeniable talent and convey messages in their songs that others can relate too and that’s something that needs to be heard.

The single will be released on Friday, July 5th, 2024, followed by more singles and then their second album ‘Go Hard or Go Home’ will be released later in the year. I for one can’t wait to hear it in its entirety.

To celebrate the release of the single, Not Now Norman will perform at The Giffard Arms in Wolverhampton, supporting The Hot One Two on Saturday, July 19th, 2024.
