Cocktail Slippers are a 5 piece all – female rock band from Oslo, Norway who initally formed in 2001 with the demise of all – female outfit The Barbarellas. The girls have been fortunate to share the stage with the likes of Nancy Sinatra, Crowded House, Elvis Costello, The Strokes, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen & Iggy & The Stooges, the girls have given us 5 studio albums, Rock It in 2001, Mastermind in 2004, St Valentine’s Day Massacre in 2009, People Talk in 2014 & Shout It Out Loud in 2021. The girls have also graced the stage of SXSW twice in 2010 & 2011 and played Hard Rock Calling in 2012, the girls have been busy touring and performing all over the world and today they drop their excellent new EP Talking About Love which I will be reviewing for you today, please join me as I slip into the groove with this sassy 5 piece juggernaut outfit from Oslo.

Good Love – The melodic rasping vocals are unleashed as this foot stomping rock n roller beast comes at us with real venom as the girls just bring it. The snare drum punches control the rhythm section as this fantastic opening track just gets us in the mood as we feel the energy oozing from this fantastic arrangement, the sultry bassline is wrapping itself around this sweet punchy groove laden track as the slick guitar licks really grab our attention as the soaring vocals come at us with real energy as this melodic rock track tells it’s own story as the band comes together and delivers a no nonsense punchy monster track that is real infectious as the groove kicks in the doors and socks it to us. This is a real gritty opening number that sets the tone as we move forward with this sizzling band.
123 –  A cool punchy snare drum beat oozes from the intro and is wrapped in a deep funky bassline that really lets this track open and soar. The sweet melodic vocals take this track onwards as the cool backing vocals flow effortlessly through the whole arrangement as the foot stomping groove grabs a hold of us and lets the girls really get into the whole composition as they push forwards and really give us what we came for, soulful melodic vocals wrapped in a shredding power riffed guitat salvo that has solid snare drum punches to get the rhythm section on the map. The punchy effort really builds and builds as this well versed track catches us off guard as the girls really deliver musically with bells on that gives it a certain go-go’s feel that is wrapped in energy driven riffs with soulful vocals that have us reaching for the repeat button.
Talking About Love – A sweet cool guitar pick opens this track up as the smoldering vocals pour into this fantastic number as we really get what these girls are all about. The track is full of depth, mystery, attitude and soul as this soaring ballad style rock track comes in and really lets us feel the emotion oozing from this killer outfit, we are getting a real mellow tone that is wrapped in soaring vocals that just let the track breathe, the addition of the soothing backing vocals really takes this track to another place as we get the whole meaning from this classic piece of music. The girls are really delivering a well thought out arrangement that just stops us in our tracks as we really feel the music wrapping itself around us for sure.
I Still Dream You – We get sweet mellow guitar licks that combine with a bass kicks and snare drum taps as this melodic number unfolds and brings us a real soulful track. The deep pulsing bassline is handing us meaty funk grooves that just let the whole arrangement work as the mellow vocals really come through and let us feel the depth and direction that the girls are flowing in, the addition of sizzling keys just elevates this gritty rocking beast to the next level as the tempo changes pace mid section and lets this foot stomping groover bring a thought provoking track that is just delivering on all levels as the girls bring the sweet soulful tone that we have all come to know and love from this hight energy outfit from Oslo.
Jungle – A punchy snare drum beat gets this soaring number off the ground as the girls come in with furious strumming chords that let us feel the groove. The rhythm section is handing us a full on beat that is working well with this toe tapping arrangement as the bassline drops in and gives us a real dark, melodic funk tone that is soaring through this killer track as we get a funky beat that is wrapped in the colossal melodic vocals that just deliver a real cool tone that lets this track breathe. A slick clean solo hits us straight on as this cool fast paced number unfolds and really gives this track depth and a real funky full on tone that just finishes this killer EP off in style as we get a cool backing tone that brings in a clapping groove that finishes with a slick guitar solo that takes the doors clean off their hinges as the girls bow out in style.
