Euge Valovirta is perhaps best known for his years in Suburban Tribe, and his steady output in Cyhra, but the guitarist is making a name for himself with his solo albums. His third, Hardtones, is available worldwide from Gramophone Records (and King Records in Japan) and is comprised of 11 hard rock/metal anthems.
Eight metal wailers are featured on the songs – including Lost Society’s Sammy Elbanna, Reckless Love’s Olli Herman and Cyhra’s Jake E. – each bringing a unique and fun scream to complement Valovirta’s dynamic melodies and shredding.
The Finnish guitar maestro spoke with Jace Media Contributor Justin Smulison about his process of creating an album that was partially created through riffing on YouTube. He also talked about the challenges of establishing his own guitar’s voice at the forefront alongside some of today’s top rock and metal singers, and how the various energies and personalities contributed to its success. They also talk about his phenomenal instrumental album, Shooting From The Hip and some of the funny origin stories of the diverse playing and genres.
They also talk about Cyhra’s albums, The Vertigo Trigger and No Halos In Hell, and the excitement ahead of hitting the road supporting Evergrey during the Emptiness Over Scandinavia tour in August and September.
