Review By Darren McIntyre
Katy Hurt is a London born, USA raised artist brought up on the sounds of Country, Americana with a twist of Southern Rock thrown in for good measure. Katy came to our attention in 2016 and has released a string of singles & EP’s showcasing her versatile range which has won her accolades such as UK Country Music Spotlight Awards for Female Vocalist Of The Year, Best EP, Best Song & Best Video. Katy has toured extensively playing major festivals such as Country 2 Country, Pilton Party, Glastonbury’s famous Pyramid Stage & Isle Of Wight Festival, Katy brings us her stunning new single Oh Girl which I will be reviewing for you today.
Oh Girl – The track springs into life with a cool punchy bass kick that is followed by snare drum beats that let this cool country groover come to life. The sweet lap steel licks are just awesome as they allow Katy to bring her sweet girl next door vocals to this fantastic toe tapping, grab your girl and whisk her around the dancefloor track that instantly gets you hooked, we are feeling the emotion and story unfold as we are whaltzed through the arrangement that lets us know that Katy has unearthed something special in this composition. There is a real buzz around this artist as she wears her heart on her sleeve with thought provoking lyrics that really take you on the journey and let us feel the freedom that is being released through this fantastic track. We feel that there is much more to come from this exciting young Country star as she lays herself bare with the powerful lyrics that just tell their own story.
