Nervous Eaters are an original rock n roll band from Boston, Massachusetts who helped define the Boston underground garage / punk scene in the late 70’s early 80’s. The band would eventually become the house band of the legendary punk club The Rat and would play with a who’s who of the punk & new wave luminaries that included the likes of The Police, The Ramones, The Cars, Patti Smith, Dead Boys, Iggy Pop, The Stranglers, Go-Go’s and many more. The band would disband in the late 80’s but frontman and founding member Steve Cataldo would revive this legendary outfit with three new musketeers and are about to deliver a new album Rock n Roll Your Heart Away due to drop on August 23rd, from that album comes their new single Just For You which I will be reviewing for you today.
Just For You – A punchy snare drum beat gets this foot tapping punk – esque number off the ground as we feel the energy pouring from this legendary outfit. The soaring smooth vocals are tearing through this crisp arrangement as the rhythm section commands the room with it’s solid cool grooves, the pulsing bassline is dropping sweet clean grooves all through this fantastic offering as the cool Hammond style keys bring the blues style element to this fast paced rock n roll number. The groove is a real intense number that lets us feel the funk element shimmering through this fantastic arrangement as the cool punchy grooves put a smile on your face from the very first note till the very last, we are just smiling from ear to ear as Steve and the band bring a fresh, cool approach to this revamped outfit that is just firing on all cylinders for sure.
