Released earlier this week An Ocean of Strange Islands is a nine and a half minute epic from the Finnish Symphonic Metal royalty. The song commences with a ethereal vocal intro before being joined by the the bands trade mark sound of pounding drums and guitar stylings followed by the injection of Floor Jansens operatic vocals.
This track will appeal to fans of the band as it encapsulates many elements from their back catalogue. The singing is intertwined with instrumental sections and the overriding feel is that of a story being played out through the music concluding with a Celtic feeling outro that Nightwish are well known for.
The track’s release is accompanied by a dreamy style monochrome lyric video. The Song is the second track from the forthcoming album Yesterwynde due out on 20th September.
