Review By Dave Martin
Linkin Park release throwback style single “Heavy is the Crown”.
In what seems like retro Linkin Park, this new single has all the elements that made me love the band in the early 2000’s. The second release from forthcoming album “Zero”, this track fills me with hope for the new evolution of the band. Starting with Mike Shinoda rapping akin to Hybrid Theory tracks “In the End” or “Points of Authority” the song has the heavier new metal influences of the band’s early years. This includes the heavy screaming and sustained vocals we have come to love from the group although now supplied by new co- vocalist Emily Armstrong. The two new additions to the group seem to be fitting in seamlessly with the original members and if this is the quality of the new material, I am extremely excited for what’s to come. “Heavy is the Crown” comes with a recently released animated video and is the official anthem of the 2024 League Of Legends World Championship.
My only criticism of the track is that it is quite short and 2 minutes and 47 seconds and I would have liked more.
The new album is due out on the 15th November and the band is currently on a mini world tour with additional dates added today.
