Review by Damien Harvey
Shower Beers is a pop-punk band from New York who I have previously covered here and Damien has had a sneak preview of their upcoming single “Static, USA” out October 3rd.
Shower Beers is Chris Diorio (Vocals/Guitar), Sean DeKay (Vocals/Guitar), Joe Berson (Vocals/Bass), and Rob Abrams (Drums). The band formed in 2022 with a goal of writing pop-punk that pops off the pregame, hooks that hit hard, and choruses that will get the boys bopping.
Shower Beers’ new track “Static, USA” is a punchy, nostalgic nod to the golden era of pop-punk, echoing the vibes of bands like Simple Plan and a softer, more polished Green Day. Right from the get-go, the song grabs you with a catchy guitar riff that sets up the energy for what’s to come. The chorus arrives early, offering an anthemic sing-along hook that will get stuck in your head after just one listen. It’s that infectious blend of upbeat chords and youthful angst that feels both familiar and fresh.
The song excels in its simplicity, which is both its strength and its slight drawback. At three and a half minutes long, the track mostly revolves around the chorus, with just two verses offering some lyrical variety. While the chorus is undeniably strong and memorable, the repetition begins to weigh down the track as it progresses. By the time it reaches the end, there’s a feeling of wanting just a bit more evolution or a bridge to break up the flow.
Despite the repetition, “Static, USA” delivers a solid pop-punk anthem that captures the essence of the genre. It’s a high-energy track that’s perfect for fans of the mid-2000s pop-punk scene, and while it could benefit from a little more variation, its catchy chorus makes it worth the listen. Shower Beers is clearly tapping into a nostalgic sound with a modern touch, and “Static, USA” has the potential to become a fan favorite.
