Review By Halina Wegner
Modern hard rockers Juliet’s Not Dead are turning up the heat with their latest single, Open Fire, from their highly anticipated upcoming album This World Is Ours, set to drop on February 7, 2025. Accompanied by a strikingly intense graphical promo video, the track is the second teaser of what’s shaping up to be a hard-hitting and emotionally charged album. Lead vocalist and band mastermind Stevie Stoker leads the charge, delivering a passionate performance that sets the tone for the rest of the record.
Open Fire wastes no time making its presence known with gritty guitar riffs from Chris “Smokes” Matthews that instantly grab the listener’s attention. The track builds momentum with thunderous drumming from Damian “Blaze” Harper, whose relentless energy propels the song forward. Beneath it all, Frankie “Viper” Watts on bass lays down a deep, rumbling groove that keeps the track grounded in a powerful rhythm section.
Stevie Stoker’s vocals are as dynamic as ever, balancing raw intensity with melodic prowess. He commands the listener’s attention with an impassioned delivery, particularly in the anthemic chorus where he shouts, “Open fire, watch the flames rise higher!”. the track showcases the band’s tight musicianship and mature songwriting. Chris Matthews’ guitar solo about two-thirds into the song is particularly notable—fluid, sharp, and packed with emotion, it provides a climactic moment that adds an extra layer of intensity to the song. Harper’s drums and Watts’ bass lines never falter, keeping the energy high and the track driving forward like a runaway freight train.
The accompanying video is just as striking as the single itself. With a mix of sharp, animated visuals and live-action clips, it intensifies the song’s themes of rebellion and survival. The vibrant imagery of flames and destruction paired with the band’s high-octane performance reflects the spirit of the song perfectly. It’s clear that Juliet’s Not Dead has a vision, and they’re executing it with precision.
With Open Fire, prove they’ve got something special brewing for This World Is Ours. If this track is any indication, the album is set to be a fiery, hard-rocking statement that will resonate with fans new and old. Mark your calendars for February 7, 2025—this is one release you won’t want to miss.
Juliet may not be dead, but they’re definitely lighting things up.
