Review By Darren McIntyre

Mammal are a hard / funk / alternative / rap metal band from Melbourne, Australia who came to our attention in 2006 and released their first EP soon after. The boys brought us The Majority in 2008, 2 Live Albums, 1 EP & 8 singles, the boys decided to take a little hiatus in 2009 but decided in 2017 that the world needed more Mammal so decided to reform to bring more chaos to the world. The boys recently delivered their new album The Penny Drop and from that they give us their blistering single Slings & Arrows which I will be reviewing for you today.

Slings & Arrows – From the off we get a real sludgy, dirty groove that catches our attention as a funky, deep pulsing bassline drops epic grooves all over this foot stomping monster as the boys hit the ground running. The rhythm section is coming through with a deep pounding bass kick as the snare drum punches fill the air and let the cymbal crashes get this groover on the go, we have a cool grungy, gravelly vocals that flows effortlessly through the track as this beast kicks in the doors and lets us have it. The sizzling guitar riffs are working their way through this crunching colossus of a track as the boys cement their return with a real foot stomping bruiser track that instantly gets you up on the floor doing your thing to this fantastic tune, the boys have brought the funk with this release as we feel the energy oozing through each musician as they leave their mark and then some.
