Finnish rock icons The Rasmus are back with their new track “Rest In Pieces”, marking an explosive start to their latest musical chapter. Released digitally on October 25 via Better Noise Music and Playground Music, the song brings back the intense, dark melodic force fans have come to love but with a sharper, more personal edge.
Frontman Lauri Ylönen dives headfirst into themes of betrayal and frustration, delivering lyrics that are unapologetic and fierce. “This all started very organically,” Lauri shares. “I was betrayed by a friend. I was sad and pissed off at the same time. I wanted to channel my frustration into the music and create what I call a ‘f*ck you song’ for revenge.” Lauri’s vocal delivery mirrors this raw intensity, making the track a cathartic experience that resonates with anyone who’s ever felt the sting of betrayal.
Sonically, “Rest In Pieces” is a powerhouse blend of dark, heavy riffs and haunting melodies. Guitarist Emppu Suhonen, bassist Eero Heinonen, and drummer Aki Hakala deliver a sound that feels both timeless and aggressively fresh. The track’s lyric video, released alongside the single, amplifies its rebellious energy and visualizes the sense of anger embedded in the music.
For a band with six platinum and eight gold certifications under their belt, The Rasmus continue to push their boundaries. With “Rest In Pieces,” they prove that their music still carries the weight of real-life emotions, offering listeners an anthemic outlet for life’s toughest moments. This track is The Rasmus at their most fierce, focused, and refreshingly unfiltered.
