Review By Darren McIntyre

Brooks Mason aka Eddie 9 Volt is a Georgie born, Atlanta based singer / songwriter / guitarist who has been gathering pace with his take on Southern soul / blues / rock and funk music. Eddie picked up a guitar aged just 6 and the rest they say is history as it has allowed him to experiment in all genres and this has led him to give us Left My Soul In Memphis in 2019, Little Black Flies in 2021, Capricorn in 2022 and on the 22nd November he drops his new offering Saratoga. From the new album comes his latest single a real rocking ballad in the form of The Road To Nowhere which I will be reviewing for you today.

The Road To Nowhere – The track opens with real mellow blues style vocals that have fantastic snared rum rolls that let the tempo take you to the dancefloor as you lead your lady around the floor. The sweet, deep, clean guitar licks are smooth and just allow the track to settle us into a real bluesy rhythm that is magical, there is a real depth to this youg talented musician as he takes us along for the ride and transports us back in time with this soulful mesmerisinf track that just ticks all the boxes. We get a cool dark bassline that wraps itself around the lyrics and really lets us know that this guy is the real deal as we lose ourselves in the musicality that has krept up on us, we feel the emotion oozing from the track as Eddie puts his soothing vocals all over this real ballad track that just draws you in and allows us to float along for the ride.
