Brighton-based quintet The Rattlebacks have arrived in full force with their debut album, showcasing their dynamic sound and undeniable talent. Formed in 2021, this group has quickly gained traction in the rock scene, and their latest effort cements them as one of the most promising new bands of the year. With a rock-solid lineup led by the commanding rhythm section of Seth Markes on drums and Jack ‘The Hell’ Hollamby on bass, and rounded out by Coxy on rhythm guitar, Max Horn on lead guitar, and Josh Clarke on vocals, The Rattlebacks have crafted a well-rounded album that doesn’t hold back.
The record kicks off with “The Taste,” an explosive opener that highlights Clarke’s impressive vocal range and sets the tone with an infectious rhythm. The groove continues with “Dementia Lounge” and “Gods,” where Markes and Hollamby lay down heavy, pulsing beats that give the tracks a powerful edge. “How Calm The Silence” and “Open Your Mind” showcase the tight synergy between Coxy and Horn, whose guitar work is both melodic and electrifying, adding texture and energy to every song.
Tracks like “Swing” and “Behind You” illustrate The Rattlebacks’ versatility, blending classic rock influences with a modern flair, while “Lady in Wait” offers a leaner, grittier sound that brings out the raw energy of the band. Finally, “Lazy Brian” closes the album on a high note, leaving listeners craving more from this unrelenting group.
With their boundless energy, refined skills, and a clear vision, The Rattlebacks have made a remarkable entrance with this debut. For anyone searching for fresh rock music with depth and style, The Rattlebacks might just be your new favorite band.
