Review By Darren McIntyre

Skam are a 3 piece rock outfit from Leicester and have been delivering no nonsense classic British rock n roll since 2011, the have delivered to us albums such as It’s Come To This in 2011, Peacemaker in 2013 and The Amazing Memoirs Of Geoffrey Goddard in  2017. They have given us Intra which brought us a couple of singles and they have been busy writing and recording their new album From The Depths slated for release 29th November. The boys have already given us Rising Fever and follow that with the awesome Selfish Friend which I will be reviewing for you today, please sit back, grab a cold one and be prepared to have your mind well and truly blown.

Selfish Friend – From the off we get a rasping, gritty guitar salvo that sets the tone as this foot stomping beast kicks in the doors and unleashes this monster to us all. The pounding rhythm section is hitting us with a powering snare drum beat that is joined by cool cymbal snaps that just allow this track to breathe as the boys continue where they left off with a real fist pumping monster track that just punches you in the face.

The funky bassline is handing us a real deep, sludgy groove that works so well with the shredding guitar licks that are flowing freely through this colossal slab of rock n roll. The boys are just coming for us and really letting us know that they are kicking ass and taking names with this rock n roll groover that just ticks all the boxes, we have towering vocals that take us on the journey as the boys lay down a marker with this storming follow up track that is just coming for us in so many ways.
