Rising alt-rock trio Milkshed. have returned with their second EP, due for release on February 19, 2025, and it’s a collection that solidifies their place as one of the UK’s most exciting emerging bands. Following the success of their ferocious single Do It Again, which gained traction on BBC Introducing and Amazing Radio, the band showcases their versatility with this introspective and emotionally charged release.
The EP’s lead single, Just Wanna Give, dropped on January 15 and offers a heartfelt exploration of self-acceptance and human connection. Singer and guitarist Cam Gallaher’s inspiration for the track is as personal as it gets: “The melody came to me in a dream,” he recalls, “I recorded a voice note at 3 a.m. trying not to wake my newborn son.” With its conversational tone—underscored by the opening phone call featuring Gallaher’s wife—the track immediately feels intimate and relatable. The emotional weight and vulnerability in Just Wanna Give are reminiscent of emo greats like Funeral For A Friend while retaining a fresh, modern edge.
The EP’s second track, Do It Again, continues to burn with the raw energy that first put Milkshed. on the map. It’s a punchy anthem that perfectly balances gritty guitars and a driving rhythm section, showcasing the band’s ability to craft high-energy bangers.
Rounding out the release is Love/Hate, a track that dives into the complexities of relationships with unflinching honesty. It’s a slow burner that builds to an explosive crescendo, leaving listeners with a lasting impression of the band’s dynamic range and storytelling prowess.
The EP’s release coincides with a series of live shows, including performances with Jaws The Shark and a spot in the Isle of Wight Festival’s New Blood Competition. These gigs promise to bring the band’s vibrant energy to audiences across the UK and further cement their reputation as a must-see act.
