Swedish industrial rock maestros Morlocks ring in 2025 with their hauntingly ambitious new EP, Amor, Monstra Et Horrore Profundi, released today via Metropolis Records. Known for their genre-defying fusion of industrial rock, neo-classical, darkwave, and metal, the band continues to push boundaries with this five-track offering that blurs the line between the grotesque and the sublime.

Following the success of their 2023 album Praise The Iconoclast and two US tours alongside industrial legends KMFDM, Morlocks take a bold step forward. Amor, Monstra Et Horrore Profundi is an exhilarating blend of revamped classics and evocative covers, showcasing the band’s ability to breathe new life into their own history while paying homage to their influences.

The EP opens with The S.N.A.F.U. Principle v3.0, a reimagined take on a track from their 2001 debut, …For Your Pleasure?. This version bristles with fresh intensity, driven by razor-sharp guitars and thunderous percussion. Next is March Of The Goblins, another revamped gem that transforms its original raw energy into a darkly cinematic masterpiece.

The EP’s centerpiece, The Lake, is a two-part odyssey inspired by Bathory. Pt. I builds a foreboding atmosphere with layered instrumentation and mournful melodies, leading seamlessly into Pt. II, which explodes into a tempest of crushing riffs and soaring vocals. The closing track, Young Prisoners, a cover of Borghesia, strips back the chaos to reveal a haunting, minimalist arrangement that lingers long after the final note.

Morlocks’ ability to marry epic production with raw emotion is on full display here. Each track feels meticulously crafted, yet brimming with the visceral energy that defines their live performances. The EP’s thematic exploration of love, monsters, and the horrors of the deep is as evocative as its title, drawing listeners into a world where beauty and terror coexist.
