Review By Darren McIntyre
Papa Roach are an alt rock / rap metal / alt metal rock band from Vacaville, California, USA who originally formed in 1993, the band began life on the football field when Jacoby & Dave met and formed the band, this led them to enter the high school talent contest, they didn’t win but this gave them the appetite to push on and bring their infectious brand of music to the masses. The band have shared the stage with the likes of Limp Bizkit, Eminem, Xzibit, D12, Ludacris and have toured the UK & participated in Ozzfest and toured with the likes of Guns n Roses. They have grown in stature and this has given them the opportunity to share the stage with the likes of Motley Crue, Buckcherry, Seether, Staind & Red, the boys have given us 11 studio albums and today they drop their killer new single Even If It Kills Me and follow that with a tour of the UK & Europe, please sit back as I walk us through this awesome new offering.
Even If It Kills Me – The track comes at us with sampler tones rippling through the intro as cool melodic vocals flow freely and let this monster come to life. The rhythm section is hitting us with a cool solid snare drum beat as the bass kicks wrap themselves around this fist pumping groover that is just building and building as the groove warms up and really comes for us, the full on bassline is dropping sweet, dark tones that really let the track breathe. We get a shredding, crunching guitar lick that just kicks in the doors as the fist pumping rocker track just gives us a real warm fuzzy feeling that is just on the money, the awesome vocals are growling their way through the arrangement and really give the track depth, swagger and bags of attitude, the boys are really giving it to us straight on this track and are digging deep to really let us know they are back, bigger, louder and ready to unleash hell on the tour.
